Team Waterfront is still the only all-female team registered for the 2001-2002 Volvo Ocean Race. They will be only the fourth all-female crewed boat in history to compete in this event, the pinnacle of Ocean Racing.

The team is currently putting together a European program of events for August. "We really want to come to Europe and do some match racing or general racing during August and possibly September. There are some very high-profile sailing events that will not only be good for practice but will also continue to raise our profile among corporations already interested in yachting," commented Charles McDonald, Syndicate spokesman.

Team Waterfront is supported by a group of Founding Partners backing the Team's endeavors to secure full sponsorship for their entry in the Volvo Ocean Race. "They come from both sides of the Atlantic and have been an invaluable help and support to us over the past few months. When Lisa and I first discussed this while we were competing in the America's Cup, we knew that we could count on the support of some key individuals around the world. And they have all been true to their word. So thank you to each and every one," said co-founder crew member Katie Pettibone.

The organizing committee for the Miami stopover invited Pettibone and McDonald to a party officially launching the Volvo Ocean Race inthe city. "I lived in Miami for just under five years so still have some good friends — but the support that we have had from major corporations and the city as a whole has been magnificent. If things go well, I can really see Team Waterfront being based from there — but there again that will all depend on our sponsor!" said Pettibone.
